Considering its size, and the spread out nature of it's appellations, it is more judicious to speak about south-west vineyards instead of one vineyard.
Indeed, they spread out over a huge area of 80 000 hectares: they incorporate all of the wine districts in the western quarter of the country with the exception of Bordeaux and Cognac. The South West wine region is cut into 4 main wine regions, which each have numerous terroirs. Each have their own characteristics, climate and of course their wines.
